Same problem with the display, but no problem with the photo, so I tend to ignore. I use the viewfinder quite a bit, and it shows on that as well, so it's not an issue with the LCD as such (in my opinion). Will have a look at the firmware update suggested- thanks for that.

Yes, I have the same problem and have phoned Fujifilm and was told that the camera has high sensitivity ccd which makes it good for low light photos, but the downside is this odd puple colours in the Electronic Viewfinder and LCD. This does not affect the recorded images, which are excellent. Really pleased with the camera and when pics are played back on a HDTV Wow!!

Im glad to hear others have the same issues with the camera as i have and it makes me feel secure that its just a quirk of s2000hd and not a real problem like the others opinions pics are great and love the camera

On my holiday I was with a group photographing sunsets in Luxor and I mentioned this happening with my S9500. 3 others using a variety of Nikons, Cannons etc all said theirs did the same, but it never showed up on the finished image.
I think it 'normal'

Hello everyone:
The white lines on the LCD ocurs when using direct sunlight is an efect called "flare", is caused when you try to take pictures using the direct sunligth or when you put your digital camera in front of an excessive brightlight. Is normal. You dont have to send the camera for repair or need to put new firmware. Be careful with your eyes only. the camera does not have secondary efects or any dangerous problems after take pictures with this white lines.
Greetings
Rodrigo

This phenomenon is NOT "flare". Flare is an optical effect caused by imperfect refraction of light within the multiple elements of a complex lens. Flare occurs before the light reaches the CCD, and will be recorded on any image captured by the CCD.
It is definitely NOT normal, and it should definitely NOT be present on a product on sale. Fujifilm support, quoted by Chris Walden above, are evading their responsibilities (and that's being charitable).
The purple haze / white lines on the LCD and EVF are the result of poor engineering at Fujifilm, most likely a BUG in either the hardware or software which connect the CCD and the LCD / EVF. It's not a bug in the LCD / EVF themselves - they're perfectly capable of displaying a recorded image.
A viewfinder which doesn't present a viewable image isn't a viewfinder. The camera does not do what Fujifilm claim for it.
I speak from short but bitter experience. My 11-day-old S2000HD is going back to the retailer tomorrow, and I'm going to get my money back.
